This Bamboo Flute from Indonesia is often referred to as a Suling or Seruling (meaning Ring Flute, as can be seen by the pictures). It is popular among Gamelan music groups. Depending on the region and genre of music, the flute can be tuned to a number of different scales.
The body of the flute is made of thin bamboo with hole at the top. Around the hole is wrapped a circular band made of rattan, a palm fibre.
Changing the sound of the flute can be achieved by the measure of air blown through the mouthpiece or the fingering position.
